For sound clips of the Bainbridge Opera House Live Recording: News: March 19, 2008 Good news, good news! We will be at the Lake Champlain Bluegrass festival this year, along with Del and the boys and the Gibson Brothers. Check out the schedule page for more added dates! Our gospel CD, Angels Rejoice released on MasterShield Records is here! Look for it at our shows. January 27, 2008 We are pleased to announce we are part of the Up North Music CD compilation and concert series through the North Country Public Radio in Canton, NY. Out of 109 performers, approximately 40 were chosen for the CD compilation and only 19 for the concert series! We are performing along with three other performers on September 20th at the Wood Theatre in Glens Falls, NY. We recently had a great time at the Folk Us Project concert in Syracuse, NY. There were some great pictures taken which we will post to the web site soon. We just finished up the gospel CD project, Angels Rejoice and it is off to the printers and record label!! We are anxiously awaiting our trip to Florida in February. We are sure there will be pictures and stories to tell! Stayed tuned!! December 27, 2007 We are very pleased to announce bass player Jim Treat from Weedsport, NY has joined the band! Welcome Jim to the Atkinson Family. Look for more on the Tug Hill Bluegrass Festival. We are pleased to have David Parmley and Continental Divide joining us on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Maple Ridge Center in Lowville, NY. July 7, 2007 Great news!!!! The Atkinson Family has signed with the Master Shield Corporation out of Bridgewater, Virginia. We are to release a gospel CD, "Angels Rejoice" this month! This CD will have some gospel standards and John Cadley's Friday, an awesome song from the perspective of the workers who nailed Christ to the cross. We are excited about this project and look forward to working with Verna and Mike. June 18, 2007 The Tug Hill Festival was a great success!!! The weather was awesome and we more than doubled our crowd from last year!! Jeanette Williams and her fine band did a great job as did the Lyndsay Family, Lost Boys, Lost Time, and Off the Wall!! The Nearly Brothers were there to entertain the crowds after hours in the parking lot!!! Thanks! Many thanks go out to the all the sponsors of the festival. Without their financial help and the publicity from the radio stations and TV7, this would not have been possible. Also thanks to the Beaver Camp crew, Keith, Tom, John, Marvin and his crew! Again without all the help and support of you, we could not have made this happen! And to all the people who came to the second annual Tug Hill Bluegrass Festival! Thanks for coming, picking music and making this a great festival!! We look forward to next year!! Plan to be there! April 14, 2007 Here is a picture of the SPBGMA competition! Read the press release! Also, plan to come to TUG HILL BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL, SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2007. Camping is available for Friday and Saturday nights AND we have Jeanette Williams and her fine band coming up from Virginia!!!! Plan to be there!!
March 3, 2007 Here we are into 2007!! The holidays went by us very quickly. We took the live recording at the Bainbridge Opera House in October of 2006, produced a great live CD and a DVD!!! And the recording has Mule Skinner Blues and Caleb Meyer for those of you who were asking!!! Check out the CD page for more info. We also prepared to go to SPBGMA for the band competition. Before leaving for Nashville the first day of February, we were faced with a family emergency. Laura, Adam's wife became very ill with a blood disorder and was hospitalized. Adam needed to be with Laura and stayed home. The registration for the band contest specifically stated we needed to have a core group of guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass. Without the mandolin player, we would automatically be disqualified. So we made some phone calls to the Lyndsay Family and were able to connect with Nick Picciccinni who is from the Mohawk Valley in New York. He graciously agreed to step in and play mandolin for Adam, and he was already headed for Nashville! Nick did a great job! In the final round we came in eighth out of 30 bands. We feel extremely honored to think we did that well. The judges who spoke with us afterwards told us the competition and level of the bands this year was very high compared to other years, and we should definitely come back next year. And we plan to be there next year! It was a great time, and a lot of fun!!! Last but not
least, we now have a MySpace account! Check it out! Live
recordings of the Bainbridge Opera House on there to listen to. http://www.myspace.com/atkinsonfamilybluegrass I should have updated this months ago, but didn't. Sorry. BUT a lot has happened!! We are extremely pleased to announce the addition of Dave Bevins of Chilson, NY! The 2003 National Dobro Champion out of Todd, NC. Dave was gracious enough to fill in a few times when Chad could not be there to play with us. And it only seemed right to have him stay on! Dave has already started to lay tracks with us for the next CD. Please welcome Dave! We say thank you to Chad for helping us out when the Abrams weren't playing and we are sure we will still see him. July 24, 2006 The promo kit has been updated. We have updated our schedule again. The Ogdensburg Seaway Festival is coming up in July, and in August, Pemi Valley Bluegrass Festival in NH, Lake Champlain Bluegrass Festival in Alburg, VT, Gouverneur Bluegrass Festival in Gouverneur, NY, Long Lake Bluegrass Festival in Long Lake, NY, Otis Mountain Bluegrass Festival. The Tug Hill Bluegrass Festival was a great success even with the rain and cold and WILL happen next year, the Saturday of Father's Day weekend. Mark your calendars. We hope to see you somewhere in our travels. May 20, 2006 Hopefully we will see you all at a great new festival on Saturday, June 10! The Tug Hill Bluegrass Festival is a joint adventure by the Atkinson Family, Lost Time, The Lost Boys, the Lindsey Family, Beaver Camp and the Maple Ridge Center! We think this will turn out to be one of the best festivals of the season! The site is awesome! Check out the web site at www.tughillbluegrass.com ! Also check our schedule page, we have added some dates. Since we have had numerous requests, we hope to have a remake of our previous gospel CD ready for you this summer. We are now working in the studio to finish it up. Look for it this season! December 29, 2005 With 2005 almost behind us, we have updated our web page! We have also updated our press package. We have downsized it a bit, and put everything important onto one page without leaving out any details! Please feel free to browse! Let us know how you like our new look! The biggest news is we have hired a booking agent and manager to help us out, Sherry Hearnes of the Hearnes Agency. Sherry is doing a really great job! Things got way too busy, trying to book, send music to the radio stations, send emails, update web pages, etc. We will be starting to write more songs and plan to put out another CD in 2006! Stayed tuned! We just went to a professional photographer, Marta Beach for a photo shoot. Photos will be posted as soon as we get them. Thank you for your continued support of the Atkinson Family
